Walking around the city looking for souvenirs, taking pictures and discovering all the cute and funny stuff Japan has to offer is amazing, but all that walking might make you feel tired or, maybe, you might just want to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee (and some cake as well?) while looking at all the cute photos you took with your partner?
Then, this café is the perfect place where to do so!

Greenhouse Silva is easily reachable from JR Sannomiya Station. From the Central Exit, go straight on and, after the crosswalk, turn right. Take the second left and after a few steps you’ll see some trees peeking from the surrounding buildings.

The grove at the entrance will make you feel like you’re entering a magical place, temporarily escaping from the chaos of the urban area.
This café is very popular among couples, so you might have to wait for a little while before you’re let in. Don’t feel discouraged! What a better chance to take some nice shots and couple selfies to show your friends back home?

The café has three floors and each one offers comfortable sitting areas where to rest from all the walking.

On a sunny day I recommend you choose the seats in the green house located near the entrance on the first floor. The beams of sunlight entering from the ceiling will make for a warm atmosphere.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for a more intimate ambience, the dim light of the second and third floors sets the perfect romantic mood.
In spring and summer, you may want to enjoy the fresh breeze coming from the outside, in which case I recommend you ask for a table in the terrace, available both on the second and third floors.
Because of the popularity of the café, your table of choice might not be available, but don’t worry! A phone call to reserve your table on the day before your visit will assure you get what you’re looking for!

The café is open everyday from 11.00 to 24.00 and, depending on the time, you’ll be able to enjoy a nice lunch, some delicious tea time treats or a fancy dinner.

The menu for the lunch (between 11.00 and 16.00) includes a lunch set: you can choose either pasta or a main dish, both served with a soup, a salad and some bread or rice (upon your choice). You can also add a drink for less than 200yen.
If you feel like having something different you can order some curry, some sandwiches or even an “omu-rice”, fried rice wrapped in a thin layer of egg omelette and topped with ketchup. This is a Japanese delicacy that you may want to try if you still haven’t! Salads, pizza and “otsumami” (snacks that are perfect to enjoy with beer and alcohol) are also available!
Prices range from 950yen to 1500yen.

If you go for afternoon tea (between 16.00 and 18.00), finger sandwiches as well as dainty cakes will be your treats. You can still order most of the dishes from the lunch menu if you’re in for a late lunch.
I personally recommend you try the “Paniert Au Fruits”, a delicious almond cream tartlet topped with fresh fruits and cream. This tartlet is also available for take-away so don’t miss this chance to try it out!
Prices range from 500 yen to 1300yen.

After the sunset, when it gets dark, the café is a great place where to enjoy a romantic dinner in an intimate atmosphere. The menu includes a wide variety of appetizers, salads, pizzas and pastas.
For a nice appetizer, why don’t you try the mixed cheese platter? With red cheddar cheese, rum and raisins cheese and smoked black pepper cheese served with crackers and a salad, this dish will satisfy your cheese cravings. Add a glass of wine and you’re all set to enjoy your romantic night! 😉

Alcohol and non-alcoholic cocktails, soft drinks and sodas, teas and coffee drinks are always available. You can just stop by for a hot chocolate in winter or for some refreshing ice herbal tea in summer.

After you enjoyed your stay, and before you leave, don’t forget to pay a visit to Tora Kichi! Get close to the doghouse hidden among the trees in front of the café and say hi to Tora-chan, the cute dog which is the mascot of the café.
